Expect movement, color, nostalgia, emotion, and a shooting experience you simply can’t replicate anywhere else.
Allie Clarke
A master of documentary family storytelling, Allie will guide you through the art of photographing real life as it unfolds. You’ll attend her in-depth education sessions and participate in a full documentary family shoot, capturing honest moments, layered stories, and emotional truth in a real home environment.

Anaway Place is a collection of distinct cabins in Wisconsin thoughtfully arranged across 110 acres of rolling hills and forest in the Driftless Region of Southwest Wisconsin. Here, we invite you to take a deep breath, share in the simple, and nurture connection—with yourself, with those you cherish, and with the restorative beauty of the natural world.
The cabins of Anaway Place become more than places to stay—they are sanctuaries where you can write, dream, stargaze, and reconnect with what matters most.

What's included in my investment?
This retreat is a full creative experience designed to nourish both art and soul. Choose between registration that includes luxury shared space sleeping accommodations in a private retreat property, photography education and support, and portfolio-building shoots in wild, cinematic locations. You’ll also enjoy daily wellness practices such as breathwork, stretching, and grounding, along with all meals at the retreat home—breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and drinks. Most importantly, you’ll experience genuine artist community, creative connection, and soul-level conversations—along with memories you truly can’t put a price on.
Is transportation included?
Transportation is not included.
What's NOT included?
Travel is not included. You’ll also be responsible for any additional meals or beverages outside of our planned in-home meals, as well as personal shopping, souvenirs, or optional activities not listed in the retreat schedule. Travel insurance is not included but is highly recommended for your peace of mind. Transportation outside of the designated group travel times will also be at your own expense.
I am from out of state. Where do I fly into and is airport transportation included?
Nearest Airports:
La Crosse (LSE) — 1 hour 30 minutes away
Milwaukee (MKE) — 2 hours 30 minutes away
Chicago O’Hare (ORD) — 3.5 hours away
Madison (MSN) — 1 hour 20 minutes from retreat site
The closest and most convenient airport. Small, calm, and easy to navigate.
La Crosse (LSE) — 1 hour 30 minutes away
A great alternative if flights into Madison are limited.
Milwaukee (MKE) — 2 hours 30 minutes away
A larger airport with more flight options and rental cars.
Chicago O’Hare (ORD) — 3.5 hours away
Best for international travelers or those looking for the lowest fares.
Ground Transportation:
Because the retreat is set in a rural, nature-rich location, renting a car is the best option. Roads are paved, safe, and scenic — you’ll drive through rolling hills, winding roads, and the heart of the Driftless landscape.
Carpooling is also encouraged!
A private retreat group will open before the event so attendees can connect, share rides, and split rental costs.
How many spots are available?
Only 10 artist spots are available in the group housing and we will accept 5 who choose independent lodging to ensure an intimate, connected retreat experience.
Can I come alone?
Yes. Most artists attend alone and leave with lifelong friends. You will be surrounded by a creative, welcoming, and inclusive community from day one.
What experience level do I need?
This retreat is open to photographers of all levels, from beginner to professional. The only requirement is a willingness to grow and create with intention.
Can I come with a friend?
Yes! We love a buddy system! If you are doing this with a friend, message us upon enrollment and we will note to have pair you with your buddy for sleeping arrangements.
Are payment plans available?
Yes. Multiple payment plan options will be available at registration.
Are payments refundable?
No. Due to the nature of this experience and limited space, all payments are non-refundable. However, your seat may be transferred to another artist if you can no longer attend. We will assist in sharing your available spot, but it is your responsibility to fill your seat.
Do I need a car?
Yes, you will need a car. We do suggest carpooling and will have a Facebook group where you can connect with fellow artists to coordinate if you choose.
Are meals included?
Yes. All meals, snacks, and beverages enjoyed within the retreat home are included. Any meals, snacks, coffees, cocktails, or beverages purchased outside the home during free time or personal outings are the responsibility of the artist. You are always welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages of choice.
What if I have dietary restrictions?
We are happy to accommodate. You will receive a retreat questionnaire after registration where you can list any food allergies or dietary needs.

A full packing list and travel guide will be emailed to all attendees after booking.
