What if your familiar locations are the most powerful spaces to tell your stories?

Homeland is a 3 week interactive artistic inquiry into what landscape can teach us about how we see the world and where we make our most potent and authentic work.

Land is deeply woven into the fabric of stories. "Where are you from?" is a question of identification by location. Our stories have roots that artists can't afford to ignore and traveling for the sake of a pretty picture is a luxury that lacks sustainability.  What if you dug into the ground you are on and unearthed the stories there? What if you started to see more beauty in the everyday of your surroundings? What if you could take heart-wrenching pictures in your own backyard, regardless of how "pretty" it is? What if you learned how your natural habitat has shaped your creative eye, and how to maximize it's potential? These questions lay at the heart of Homeland where you will be challenged to consider how location contributes to your creative voice, attract clients who feel aligned to the work you want to be making, and learn to look at your familiar spaces in a fresh new way.

SASHA CASTA

If a forest witch and a university professor had a baby, it would be Sasha. A half-feral earth mystic who grew up living off the land studying art, language, and mythology, Sasha understands the deep connection between landscape and story. She lives in Central Alberta Canada on an acreage where she chases her two wild kids around trying to ensure her household doesn't descend into complete chaos.
